This year’s NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition in Orlando on 21-22 October will feature a number of connectivity suppliers.
With everything from CPDLC to “office in the sky” satellite connectivity, there has never been a more exciting time for the industry. Let’s look at what will be on display:
Cobham (stand 828) will be promoting its AVIATOR 200S airborne satcom system, featuring the compact HELGA (combined HLD and Enhanced LGA) antenna. This is being designed for data-connected aircraft and will be certified in 2015.
HELGA is its new high-power, low-noise, amplifier and diplexer-enhanced low gain antenna. It is designed to work with Inmarsat’s enhanced SwiftBroadband (SBB) service, and will work down to five degrees satellite elevation above the horizon.
Esterline CMC Electronics (CMC)(stand 2213) will showcase its innovative avionics, including its latest PilotView® electronic flight bags (EFB). The system offers versatile aircraft network connectivity, secure file storage and aircraft interface capabilities.
CMC’s Aircraft Information Servers provide managed network security, application and file management, aircraft data interfaces, and tablet connectivity. These products enable expansion to communication systems that offer on-ground, air-to-ground or cockpit-to-cabin connectivity.
Honeywell Aerospace (stand 2000) says visitors can learn about Honeywell’s avionics solutions for various upcoming global mandates, including ADS-B and FANS 1/A+.
Also on display will be the new JetWave hardware, which will enable aircraft to connect to Inmarsat’s GX Ka-band constellation, which is set for its global launch in mid 2015.
Rockwell Collins (stand 3099) says it will be showing how it is adding new capabilities to various Pro Line 21 avionics platforms, such as FANS 1/A. It will also be displaying its datalink and satellite connectivity solutions available through ARINC Direct.
Satcom1 (stand 4589) provides airtime services for all satellite systems: Inmarsat, Iridium and ViaSat Yonder Ku-Band. Its on-board services include: voice, fax, e-mail, and internet. Its AvioIP “Office in the Sky” business aircraft cabins now offers enhanced productivity for the business jet and airline industry.
Satcom Direct (stand 980) is a leading provider of satellite voice and broadband data solutions for flight deck and cabin communications serving business, military, government, and heads of state aircraft.
The company is an Inmarsat Distribution Partner, Iridium Service Partner and ViaSat Yonder’s preferred reseller, supporting more than 90 percent of all corporate flight departments worldwide.
It recently launched its new international training program consisting of technical, operational and commercial courses available for all customers via classroom, eLearning, webinars and lab-based training.
Universal Avionics (stand 273) has an interactive demonstration, including Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A+ and Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) technology.
Expect to see all this, plus much more at the industry’s biggest business aviation event.
